Horse Competitions at the Atherton Show

Saddle up for the thrill of the ring! The Atherton Show horse competitions showcase elegance, skill, and the strong bond between rider and horse. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or just starting out, we have a range of classes for all levels.

Competition Categories

  • Show Jumping
    Open and junior classes across a variety of heights and formats.

  • Hack Classes
    Including Show Hack, Galloway, and Pony divisions.

  • Riding Classes
    Rider classes for juniors and adults, judged on position, style and ability.

  • Led Classes
    Judging conformation and presentation, including Breed Specific categories.

  • Working Hunter
    A blend of jumping and showing in a more natural style.

  • Thoroughbred Off The Track (OTT)
    Special classes for retired racehorses transitioning into new careers.

  • Miniature Horses & Ponies
    A crowd favourite — showcasing tiny champions in led and performance events.

Entry Information

  • All horse entries must be submitted by email with entry form (PDF) completed.

  • Riders must present a signed waiver and helmet compliance declaration on the day.

  • Proof of current Horse Health Declarations and vaccinations may be requested.

  • Entry closing dates vary — check the official schedule for deadlines.

Stabling & Camping

Planning to stay on-site with your horse during the show? Here’s everything you need to know to book your spot and prepare for your stay.

Booking Conditions

  • Applications will only be accepted with proof of current horse vaccinations.
  • Stables and campsites are not confirmed until payment is received and you’ve been notified by the show office.
  • Preferred stall/campsite requests are considered but final allocation is at the discretion of the Atherton Show Society.
  • Limited availability: Priority is given to travelling competitors and horses competing both days.

🚫 NO DOGS are allowed on the grounds. Any dogs found will be removed by Local Laws and impounded.

Horse Stalls

  • Must be booked in advance with the correct form and full payment.
  • Not available for non-competitive horses.
  • Stall requests may not be fully granted due to limited space.
  • Cancellations must be received by 5pm the Sunday before show week to be eligible for a refund.
  • Preference is given to horses competing across both show days.

Camping Sites

  • Must be applied for using the official form and paid in advance.
  • Covers two nights, with additional nights available.
  • Please indicate your preferred site size on the form.
  • Site allocations will be provided as exhibitors arrive. You must only set up in your allocated site — if not, you will be asked to move.
  • Sites are not secure until confirmed by the show office and paid in full.

Ground access for setup is only available during specified times (notified to confirmed campers). No vehicles may move through the showgrounds during show days between:

  • Monday: 9am–10pm
  • Tuesday: 9am–4pm

Gate Passes
Competitors must collect their passes from the office before 4pm, Sunday 29th June.

All other campsite occupants must pre-purchase their passes before 4pm on the same day — otherwise, gate pricing applies:

  • Adult: $30
  • Child/Pensioner: $15

Required Documents

  • QCAS Horse Health Declaration / Movement Form is required on arrival.
  • Vaccination records must accompany all applications.

Terms of Application

  • By submitting an application, you agree to follow the directions of event officials.
  • Misconduct or failure to follow directions may result in immediate removal from the event.
  • Applicants indemnify the Atherton Tableland Agricultural Society Inc. against liability for any accident, damage, or illness to persons or property.
