Floriculture Competitions at the Atherton Show

Celebrate the beauty, creativity, and dedication of our local growers and floral artists with the vibrant Floriculture Section of the Atherton Show. With a wide range of classes including pot plants, cut flowers, floral art, and orchids—this competition brings colour and elegance to the showgrounds!

Whether you’re an experienced grower or just love flowers, there’s a place for your blooms at the Atherton Show. We look forward to seeing your creativity in full bloom!

Pot Plants

  • Entry Forms & Exhibits Due: Before 10AM, Saturday 28th June
    Stewards available from 8AM
  • Judging Begins: 3PM, Saturday 28th June
  • Entry Fee: $1.00 per class
  • Prizes:
    • 1st Place: $5.00 + Certificate
    • 2nd Place: $3.00 + Certificate (or as stated)

Conditions of Entry

  • Present exhibits to stewards at Lower Merriland Hall.
  • Entries are limited to 8 per class per exhibitor.
  • Pot plants must be homegrown for at least 3 months.
  • Clean plastic pots or wire baskets are preferred:
    • Pot max size: 25cm diameter, 3kg max weight
    • Basket max size: 30cm diameter
  • Hanging baskets allowed.
  • AOV = Any Other Variety
  • Refer to the General Conditions of Entry & Show Rules.

Conditions of Entry

  • Exhibits become property of the Society (except native collections).
  • Flowers must be homegrown, not store-bought or wild-harvested.
  • Entries: Max 8 per class per exhibitor
  • A single exhibit = a bloom or a cut (stem, spray, spike, etc.)
  • Jars and water provided. Exhibitors to supply decorative vases if desired.

Conditions of Entry

  • Exhibits must display class cards clearly.
  • Accessories allowed, but horticultural materials must dominate.
  • Size Limit: Max 60cm wide x 30cm deep, height unlimited.
  • Open Class winners may not return to Novice.
  • Minimum entries required for prizes to be awarded.
